I must have caught something while in Mexico City. diarrhea is very watery, but it was the only symptom fortunately. I called my OB open as soon as his office, but in the meantime, I wonder if any of you get it during this or a previous pregnancy. What happened
Edit: Thanks for your comment! They made me feel so much better. I spoke with my OB nurse, and she did not care because I was able to keep fluids down. He recommends staying hydrated and the BRAT diet like so many of you do. And whatever it seems to go today. I appreciate all your feedback!
Oh, maybe. Great idea, I do not need to call them before!
I have it now. Vomiting and diarrhea for about 12 hours now. My OB wait to call me back, I was quite worried about my baby.
I feel ya. My concern for the baby feels worse than the actual disease. Good luck to you. OB let me know what you say.
Honestly, just go to the emergency room. They will give IV fluids and you will feel much better almost instantly.
I was about 8 weeks, IIRC. I knew it was more than just morning sickness because the constant diarrhea and mild fever, and I do not eat burgers perhaps too-rare in a restaurant. Oops.
fever was successful in Tylenol (but I can not miss a dose!), And I can compete with liquid. Call your OB, but I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you can keep fluids in you, and do not spike a high fever. I'm the wrong kind of Dr, but I monitor the temperature you just in case.
Thanks!
Yep, in Japan about 13 weeks. Vomiting episodes over 12 hours. I begin to keep down fluids in the middle of the afternoon but just take it really easy, rehydration with water, half-Japanese half-Gatorade mix. I could eat white rice the next day, but I stay away from coffee for a few days. Got to the hotel after a day change seriously ill is no fun at all. But there is no adverse effect on small amoeba.
Hold on! Call your OB, sipping bottled water, and eat some food BRAT if you can.
Thanks! Happy little guy is ok.
Pocari Sweat save the day!
I got it when I was about eight weeks pregnant and thought I would die. After about 12 hours of vomiting / diarrhea, I went to the ER to get IV fluids and meds and feeling much better.
Any problems with the baby (if it was ok for me to ask)?
Yes I have had with both about 20 weeks something. My stomach was contracting so hard, I was spewing out of both ends, thought I had a baby and dying lol and then I had a real bad one in about 7 weeks with this one. could not hold anything down for 24 hours. It is horrible. But the baby was fine. Hope you feel better!
Thanks!
Yes, I got food poisoning when I was in my second tri. I was sick all night and could not keep even a sip of water down. I went to the hospital the next day because I was so dehydrated, and they put me on a drip, which seems to help a lot.
Just had it this past weekend, finally went to the er last night for fluids and drugs nausea. They also examined the baby and said everything was fine! It only takes fluids and rest. I hope you feel better!
Good to know! Glad you are ok. I still have not heard back from my OB and I would climb a flight, so it is still nervous! I can drink water, so hopefully that's ok.

I've been around week 10-11. I called my OB after about 12 hours of profuse vomiting and she said if I made it to 24 hours without keeping anything to me should be good to go to the emergency room or a clinic in the morning (the clinic will be opened at about 28 hours after the start of a nightmare) for some IV fluids. Meanwhile he prescribed some ondansetron (Zofran) is slowing vomiting enough that I could keep hydrated
ETA :. I stopped vomiting with ondansetron that (starting about 18 hours), nausea and diarrhea stopped about day 3. The baby is fine :)
Thanks! I'm glad the baby is ok.
When I was 30 weeks with my first, I think I have food poisoning or a stomach bug. After becoming very illfor about 12 hours I called L & D. I finally had appendicitis and needed an emergency operation.
I'm not trying to sound alarmist but, if not better, please seek medical attention!
