Vomiting is a common symptom of pregnancy and referred to as morning sickness, although you may experience nausea and vomiting all day. MayoClinic.com notes that morning sickness affects between 50 and 90 percent of pregnant women. If you're one of them, you may be wondering what you can eat to help relieve symptoms, and what you can eat that will not soon come back. Avoid foods that trigger nausea, such as spicy or greasy fare, and opt for bland selection instead.
Bland soup cans help settle your stomach if you experience nausea and vomiting during their day. Broth and soup also will help fill your liquid so you do not become dehydrated, which is a concern if you are vomiting a lot. Choose soups that are not spicy or creamy as this can make your stomach rebel and cause you to throw up again. The American Pregnancy Association recommends chicken soup or broth as beneficial foods that you can eat when you have morning sickness.
particular fruit can help alleviate morning sickness, as well as provide essential nutrients you need to grow a healthy baby. The American Pregnancy Association recommends lemon because they might soothe your stomach. Sucking on a lemon wedge or smelled one can help with nausea. You may be able to tolerate the tasteless fruit, such as bananas and apples, too.
Crackers is one of the most common early pregnancy foods because they help settle the stomach and usually do not cause additional vomiting. MayoClinic.com recommends keeping soda crackers by your bed so you can eat some when you first wake up. This can help alleviate the severity of your morning sickness, which can help reduce how much or how often you throw up. Eat some biscuits several times throughout the day because you may feel like you need to vomit more often if you have an empty stomach.
Take small sips of ginger ale is a common treatment for nausea because ginger has the effect of calming the stomach. Ginger can help reduce your risk of dehydration as well. The American Pregnancy Association notes that food and drink with ginger may have the same effect. Ginger tea, ginger cakes and jams are gingersnap additional food and beverages that can help if you are vomiting frequently.
