Everyone knows you may have morning sickness or experience cravings for strange .. But if you know your gums may be sore or bleeding during pregnancy, or you may lose some hair after you give birth?
These are just a few less common, but still normal, symptoms of pregnancy.
my colleagues and I wanted to share some of the strange things we experienced during pregnancy, including why they occur and how you can minimize them. That way, even if your doctor or friends do not warn you about these things, you will be prepared should they happen!
(Dr. Robyn Horsager-Boehrer) I've been a big coffee drinker my entire adult life. But once I became pregnant with my twins, coffee smell and - even worse - it tasted awful. I can not even think about drinking coffee without feeling any pain. So, in the midst of other pregnancy symptoms, I spent several weeks battling headaches withdrawal.Dysgeusia caffeine, or a change in taste, during pregnancy may be caused by pregnancy hormones. It may cause you to hate food that you normally love, or enjoy a meal that usually do not like. Sometimes it can cause acidic or metallic taste in your mouth, even if you do not eat anything. While there is not much you can do about dysgeusia during pregnancy, you can try this trick:
(Dr. Robyn Horsager-Boehrer) lucky I did not experience this, but a lot of my patients complain about it. I've seen women actually flinch when I move the transducer above the navel for. The pain can be very intense. There there is one reason for this pain, but usually because the changes your body is going through. skin and muscle stretching and the uterus can press against the navel. In fact, as your uterus grows, you may find one day that "Innie" Your navel is now a "outie"! Do not worry, you will be "Innie" again about six weeks after delivery.Your belly button pain can come and go throughout your pregnancy, but should subside after you give birth. Try to take the pressure off your stomach to sleep on your side and wear support belt.If pain is accompanied by fever, vomiting, cramping, or bleeding, see your doctor immediately to rule out a hernia or other medical conditions.
(Dr. Elaine Duryea) A few months after I had my baby, I began to notice more hair in the brush and in the sink. I felt like shedding dog. Many women experiencing hair loss within a few months after giving birth. This is known as telogen effluvium. But do not panic. You will not go bald.About 90 percent of your hair at any time in a growth phase, while the remaining 10 percent are in a resting phase. Every two to three months, the resting hair falls out and new hair grows in its place. During pregnancy, increased levels of estrogen extend the growth phase, which means fewer hairs go into the resting phase and fall out. That is why you may notice your hair looks thicker and more luxurious for pregnancy. After born, however, your hormone levels back to normal. All that hair that has been stuck in moving a growth phase to rest and fell a few months later. This shedding will taper off, and by the time you celebrate your baby's first birthday, your hair should return to pre-pregnancy state. There are some things you can do to keep your hair healthy and may reduce the amount you lose: Be gentle. avoid the blow dryer, curling and flat irons, or hair style attractive and emphasize your hair every time possible.Eat healthy, balanced diet to give your hair the nutrients it needs to stay strong and promgrowth.Talk ote to your doctor if you seem excessive hair loss. This could be a sign of vitamin deficiency.

I spent part of my pregnancy with swollen spot on my gum. A surge of hormones during pregnancy increases the blood flow to your gums, which may cause them to be sensitive, swollen, or bleeding. You also may obtain a pyogenic granuloma, which is what I got. This "pregnancy tumor" is a non-cancerous growth of inflammation.
(Dr. Patricia Santiago-Munoz) Towards the end of my pregnancy, I began to notice a tingling and numbness in my hands. I have developed carpal tunnel syndrome, and it is quite common in pregnant women began late in the second trimester. The carpal tunnel is the part between the wrist and hand.
