I'm trying to do a search but no one came. What are some things I could eat that would be great for someone who is pregnant? (No deli meats, sushi, soft cheeses, etc.) that I can play out? I do not want to make a big batch of anything in case I get sick of something and go to waste. I also need the nutritional value in the food. I have $ 162 for the rest of the month, and it will be split between my husband and me. I took prenatal vitamins heb so that helped. I had eggs flour salt and spices.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
On my pregnancy, I lived in a chicken soup in a slow cooker. small whole chicken, onion, carrot, celery, mushrooms, rice for soup, or two bay leaves, salt and pepper and herbs of your choice. I made along the Texas-style cornbread (also cheaper and healthier). Cook for eight hours and debone the chicken when done.
It got me through the first trimester nausea and heartburn in the last trimester.
* Not a pregnant woman, just a kid who wants to cook, but I'm interested in this style cornbread Texas. I like cornbread but store bought stuff is kind of hit or miss in terms of nutrition. Would love to hear the recipe :)
How far along are you? If you only know that you are pregnant, you may be in for a rude awakening in a few days or weeks ahead. The first few months aka mostly first trimester, many women do not focus on nutrition. They focused on survival. I was fine until I hit the mark 6-7 weeks then all the morning sickness hit and all-purpose nutrition out the window. You may be eating a lot of carbohydrates, really basic and bland food. I recommend to go shopping for just a few days at a time because it can sneak up on you. Food aversion may arise between when you create something and sit down to eat (yes it quickly). Eating healthy when you can, but you will probably find yourself not super hungry or just want crackers, ramen, pasta plain, etc ... or you'll find one or two foods that work for you that you stick with (for me it cheese and crackers- me because at the end of the month and I swear this kid will come out cheese instead of the baby). Another thing to note is that many women are not able to handle even see any raw meat with morning sickness. If you have any meat for the next 2 months or more important to you, you might want to cook and freeze the meat base or take over the job of your partner.
Currently eight weeks pregnant, and you hit the nail on the head. My dinner toast consistented twice this week. I'm trying to make chili for the family, but the smell / see ground meat too much. I hope to pass this immediately. It lasts about 18 weeks with my first.
Everyone is different and it was very nice to see the OP is trying to be healthy during the pregnancy but ....
I have a "morning sickness' til the very ends and even vomited several times during labor ...
the only thing that I was able to keep down more than half the time it bland carbohydrates such as oatmeal, rice with basic proteins, cereals. Whatever I know is easier on you when uh .. come back out.
Use canmommyeat.com when you need to know if there was something safe!
I do not miss it. With all of my children, I can eat crackers, chips, fries, and plain noodles. I had to put lemon in my water or I would get sick. It did not go away until I started taking Zofran.
I used to feel guilty about not eating healthy, but what the hell. I would tell anyone now, eat it if you think it will stay down.
^ this. I lost 40 pounds from the time I knew I was pregnant with my time to thank hyperemesis gravidarum (I was sick). Delivering 8 # 21 "long, even though the baby is very healthy. For me it was not the cravings, but aversions- oh reluctance that bad. It's not raw meat for me, it was a period of meat. I had anemia, and doing a real number. 9 years ago now, and I do not miss at all, never, once again.
Ugh I just hit 14wks, a few weeks ago my breakfast was crackers, lunch was pasta with butter and parm. I started rather regain my appetite, but still not a fan of any meat. the same as my first pregnancy. All I want is fruits and vegetables, and olives. Ohhhhh olives.
really is. morning My sickness was not too bad, but I lived on peanut butter bread and breakfast cereals for weeks. I also have an aversion to chocolate which is quite disturbing last Christmas. I found that snacking all the time so I never mera saactual hunger is the best way to keep nausea at bay -. so many crackers, dried fruit, more bread, etc.
I would suggest keeping things like chicken / beef / vegetable broth on hand. This is great for when you want to salt and can not stomach solid food, and it is important when you are vomiting was to keep fluids in you.!
Same! Fruit is always a relatively safe bet for me. I could barely be in the same room as eggs, though. The smell was triggered almost instantly nauseous for several reasons.
Yep I basically eat like a child for 3 months. Peanut butter sandwiches and chicken nuggets are the only protein I could handle. I kept packs of peanut butter crackers in my desk at work and fruit snacks as I also get sick if I'm too hungry. Also eat a lot of Kraft Mac n cheese and fruit. You must do what you must do!
this. A week ten days, nausea only reduced a little since I've started taking B6. Food aversion strange and illogical. Currently I get nauseous even thinking about sweet chili.
12 weeks here! I eat lots of small meals. And Aldi is a lifesaver if you have one nearby. It is much more affordable.
I eat hummus and pita, Greek yogurt with frozen fruit or ripe bananas, and some granola, oatmeal. Bananas in general, actually. cheese sticks, bread in the morning, sweet potatoes with beans and spinach, pasta at night if I felt terrible (check the pot wonder Italy on a budget byte),
And as an aside, I've found that drinking the amount obscene water can help me get ahead of nausea. It will not really help it go away very quickly after coming in, but it is the prevention of a really good size.
beans and eggs !! I feel great when I had the protein during pregnancy, even with pregnancy unicorn. It was like being superwoman!
What is a pregnancy unicorn?
Do you look to government assistance? There are things like WIC is available in the US that can help. I had some friends who happened to be pregnant during financially unstable in their lives and help them tremendously. They were able to get food such as milk and peanut butter. I think it helps vitamin dessert too.
WIC is the best! It's ridiculously easy to qualify, and you can get all the lentils you can dream of.
big beans, lentils big, big rice. Things do not change whether you are pregnant or not. What changes, however, is that you will be way more gassy. So stock up on beano if you react in that way.
Potatoes are cheap and make great soups and curries. You have your flour to make bread, flatbread, pizza dough.
