Both heartburn and indigestion is a common condition during pregnancy and seldom require medical attention.
What causes heartburn and indigestion during pregnancy?
When you expect, hormones flowing through your body makes the muscles relax the digestive system, which slows digestion. Valve in your esophagus can open or leaking, allowing acid from the stomach flows upward. In addition, as your uterus grows, it pushes against the stomach, increasing the pressure on the valve.
The slowdown in the digestive tract can also cause more gas, which is the cause in flatulence and bloating. Your stomach has little room for your uterus to expand, so it feels fuller than usual.
How can I prevent heartburn?
Avoid eating or drinking things that pushes the valve in the esophagus to relax more. These include oily or fatty foods, chocolate, caffeine, carbonated drinks, tomato products, citrus juice, peppermint and spearmint, alcohol, onions, garlic, and spicy foods

One of the best ways to minimize indigestion is to reduce the amount of gas in your body.
